From heartjob to startjob

Since a month and a half, Basel started working at Breman Utiliteit Rotterdam. In Syria he was a plummer, but three years ago he had to flee to The Netherlands due to the war. Now, he's getting ready to start his life here. His work contract suits well, both for the employer as himself. But the mayority of the refugees has much more dificulties finding their way towards a job. How can employers, government and social organizations take action so all newcomers get a chance to participate in society?

This article was written by VNO-NCW West on their website in Dutch. You can find the entire article through this link.

The best way to integrate succesfully in a new country is to participate completely in society as fast as possible after arrival. This means to work as soon as possible. Refugees with a job in The Netherlands learn in practice how this country "works". (No pun intended) By interacting with colleagues and clients on a daily basis they even learn the language much faster and effective than staying at home and learning it just from books.

The entire article explains much more about the dificulties people encounter when they're trying to find a job. We advise you to read it in it's entirety, because Breman Utiliteit Rotterdam shares the same vision we at Hoooop stand for. "Helping status holders find a job as soon as possible so they can integrate into society and be a valuable member of it".
